No stone was left un-turned for this event which culminated in a final day individual pro tournament played off the blue tees over a distance of 6733 yards which featured 3 lakes and 67 bunkers. The eventual winner of the individual event was James Erskine from Portpatrick Dunskey Golf Club, who shot a fantastic 1 under par 71 to claim the individual title closely followed by Ian Benson from Hindhead Golf Club and Jason Brant from East Berks Golf Club on 1 over par 73.

There was also a team event which was won by a team made up of James Erskine (Portpatrick Dunskey Golf Club), Jason Brant (East Berks Golf Club), Andrew Hurley (Arkley Golf Club) and Michael Smyth (Golfmagic.com).

“The event was very well organized, the facilities at Saadiyat Beach were first class and the course was superb.  During the week we were treated tremendously by the Cleveland Golf/Srixon staff with the highlight being the 2012 products which look great. I am sure they will be a huge success I look forward to being part of the Cleveland Golf/Srixon family for many years to come.

The event was sponsored by the Stanley Morrison charitable trust and was a free event for all competitiors.  Coaching was on hand throughout the day with Professionals,  Dean Robertson and James Erskine.   The Skills challenge areas were coordinated by the University of Stirling Golf team featuring 2 Scottish Internationalists  Graeme Robertson, Jack Macdonald, Angus Carrick and Univerity Captain Bobby Rushford.

117 competitors took part in the event from all across the country.  It was a great day for all involved and the competitors will no doubt have taken some useful tips and advise from the team of experts.

It is with great delight I can now announce that the 2011 Stanley Morrisson Team Championship will yet again be held at Porptarick Golf Club.  The Stanley Morrison Trust has generously sponsored the event which will come to a total of £5000.  This is once again, a phenomenal gesture and it is very much appreciated.

It will again be a 3 person event with under 12 and 14 year old categories with 2 stableford scores to count.  There will also be a team skills challenge event running alongside the main event. It is free entry to the event which will include food, prizes and coaching.  This years coaches will be Dean Robertson and James Erskine with the Stirling University Golf Team assisting.   The idea is to create a fun, competitive learning enviroment for all involved and it will be an excellent event.   We would like to invite all golf clubs within Ayrshire & South West Scotland to send a team at each age group.

I think you will all agree it is a fantatic event to come to the South West of Scotland and is as far as I’m aware the only event of its type in the country.  I would ask for as much support from the local area as possible to ensure this event continues for years to come.

As you are no doubt aware we are hosting the Scottish Senior Ladies (Closed) Amateur Championship from Monday 27 June 2011 till Friday 1 July 2011. This is a great honour for the club and we would ask for the co-operation of all Members to ensure that the event runs smoothly.

As a result of this the Dunskey course will be closed as below.
The closures are not just to allow the playing of the competition but to facilitate essential work on the maintenance of the course

Friday 1 July 2011 8.00 am till 3.00 pm.

At present Courtesy has been agreed with Wigtownshire County Golf Club and we are waiting confirmation from Stranraer Golf Club regarding courtesy of their course.

Members are advised if desiring to play either of the Courses they MUST contact the course prior to playing on no account must they turn up expecting to play.
