Winter Package Offers

Last year our winter package offers were very popular indeed and we will be bringing them back again for this year. The offers will be available from 1st November 2010 through to mid March 2011 and make for a great day out here at Portpatrick. The course will remain in great condition through the winter months and we look forward to welcoming you. The package will include 18 holes of golf on the Dunskey course and either a full breakfast on arrival before playing or a 2 course meal after playing. Buggies will be on special offer (subject to weather conditions). The prices per head for the coming winter months will be £28 weekdays and £33 at weekends. Buggies will cost £15. (Group discounts will also be available for parties of 8 or more.)

We will also have a few other special offers ( no food involved) for 2,3 and 4 ball bookings for the same period – details to follow!

The course here at Dunskey is playable almost all year round. Remember the winter last year when most courses in the country were closed for long periods – Dunskey only lost about 5 days in total.

Changes to Members Times

Saturday 26th June 2010 -  Please note that lunchtime members time has been reduced to:  12 noon – 1 pm. This is due to heavy visitor numbers on that particular day. However, if you are an early bird, play can commence at 7.30 on this occasion!

Saturday 10th July – 2010 -  Please note that the Sam Dorans Junior Open is on that day with tee times up to around 1 pm. Members time will follow until 2 pm. However, if the entry for the Junior Open is smaller than expected, then I will attempt to get members off a little earlier.

Desperados and Coffin Dodgers v. The Swedish (and much younger!) Visitors

On a return visit to us, a team of Swedish Golfers under the leadership of Michael Bergenlov issued a challenge taken up by our Super Seniors on Friday 29 May.

Despite local efforts to undermine Baltic equilibrium with a dash of traditional Dunskey hospitality before the commencement of play, our Swedish friends triumphed by three Matches to two.

As ever, our Super Seniors were only too happy to survive 18 holes, and take encouragement from their conviction that the significant length and straightness of the Swedish driving throughout was the result of the use of illegal equipment.

The Match result is therefore now the subject of a Stewards’ enquiry and a Protest Note to the Swedish Consul is under consideration. Michael can avoid a potential Major International Incident by promising to come back next year for a rematch !
